Week 14: Pictures

Week 14: Lots of work, a really awkward meeting, and a surprise Batism!

Hola Familia y amigos!!

This week was really good, but not a whole lot to talk about. We contacted a lot this week, like an hour everyday. We found 8 new investigadors this week which was really good. We found a family that had been investigating the church  7 years ago, they already had a book of mormon and everything, we're going to really work hard with them and try and get them back to church. Also this week we had an awesome leccion with a kid name Jullbraainer. He's 20 and his sister is a member and he went to church and when we got home he said he felt really good, he wanted to change his life, and serve a mission! It was amazing, we have more citas set with him this week and it really shows that there are people out there that are prepared to accept the gospel. Then the next day we had a leccion with a familia that we've been teaching, but when we got there there was people from another church there so we ended up joining them and listen to this guy preach for like 30 minutes. It was really awkward but it was more funny than uncomfortable. We also are teaching the parents of some members right now, the son is getting ready to serve a mission and goes out with us for citas sometimes. We taught them about eternal families and temple marriage, then the son and daughter bore their testimonies about the church and how their family would be blessed through a temple marriage and sealing. The spirit was so strong in that leccion, it was amazing.

Then the next day the rama was having a baptism and we were invited to attend which was awesome. Then about 15 minutes before the baptism we got a call and found out that I would be Baptizing! So we ran home and got all my stuff and we went to the baptism. I got to Baptize Julia Rodriguez, she's 8 and her mom is a member but they are kind of inactive because of things with their family but it was such an honor to get to baptize her. She was so happy and i'm honored that I got to be a part of it.

Today Elder Araujo and I ate KFC again because it's cheap and then we went and bought food for the next two weeks. I have a lot of Ramen, eggs, and yogurt. I've eaten ramen for the past 4 nights!! The Mission is awesome!! It's hot here but I really like it. It's a lot of work and sometimes it's really hard but I'm loving it!! We've been using Helaman 5:12 a lot in our lecciones and I love that scripture. No matter how hard something is, or if we think we can’t do it, if we put all our faith in Christ we can withstand whatever trial in our lifes!! That’s  all I have for this week. Love and Miss you guys! I hope all is well!

Week 13 Pictures

Week 13: Lots of Biking,KFC, and GROOOT!

Hola Familia y Amigos!

This week was really good. We biked a lot, like a lot. Our area is huge, it's one of the biggest in the mission. We had a lot of good lecciones this week, we found 5 new invetigadors  and one is this awesome familia. They're already married which is a big deal in Colombia and they're prepared to hear about this gospel. Also we had some great lecciones with Paola y Jason this week, they're really progressing and it's amazing to watch their lifes changing just in this small time I've been here. We also got to go on lots of lecciones with this kid Miguel. He's getting ready to go on a mission in January and it was fun getting to teach with him, we only had two bikes though so he sat on the front while I biked us around from leccion to leccion, it was hard and it looked really funny.

Saturday we had a Noche De la Rama and it was great. We had great spiritual messages and a Book of Mormon Bible game that was super fun and great for investigadors. Then we played musical chairs with me playing the piano and that was so much fun. Hna Ericka pulled the chair out from underneath her husband and he fell really hard, it got super competitive! haha. Then Sunday we had a Noche De Hogar (family home evening) with a bunch of members and our New Convert Rosana and her sons who aren't members.  We watched a video about the Restoration and everyone gave their testimony afterwards and it was amazing!  Were going to work hard and try and get them baptized, they're great kids. Then today was really fun, we cleaned the house, Elder Araujo got his haircut and plucked his eyebrows(I gave him a hard time about that). Then we went and ate at KFC which was amazing, I don't think American KFC'S are that good. Then we played spoons and chess in a park with the zone leaders and some other missionaries, and that was really fun. That's all for this week, I hope you're all doing well! Love and Miss you guys!!

Love,

Week 12: Pictures

Week 12: The shortest intercambio ever and Rosana's Batism.

Hola familia y amigos!

This week was really great. Tuesday we had reuniones with the zone. Elder Luedtke and I kind of taught an ingles class but we ended up mainly playing the piano. We didn't have that many lecciones this week. Tuesday was another Colombia futbol game and it was impossible to do anything. Then this Thursday was my intercambio with Elder Mohr. I got to his flat and we were talking having a good time, but then he got a call from Presidente Baquerizo at 10 PM. He talked on the phone for like 2 minutes hung up and said we won't be able to do the intercambio tomorrow because he just got called to be an a Assistant to the Presidente. So then his companion,my companion and I had to take a taxi back to help him get packed.  We had to hurry because he had to be in Bogota the next day by noon. So Elder Araujo and I had to sleep at their flat and get up really early to take him to the terminal. Then after all that happened it was back to normal.

We had lots of lecciones with Rosana, and on Saturday she was baptized! It was awesome, her son was at the baptism too and we're working on getting him baptized in the upcoming months! The spirit was so strong at her Baptism and it was awesome to see her so happy afterwards. Then Sunday I had the privilege of confirming her as a member of the church, and that was an awesome experience.

Then today Elder Araujo and I made new cases for our agenda's, we cleaned the house, and we went and had milkshakes celebrating because he wasn't  sent to another zone!  Then we went and bought food because we had absolutely no food in the house. This morning after breakfast we literally had only milk left. We had lunch at this place called Frisby's and it's a chicken place an it was super good! The food here is amazing and the people are even better. Villavicencio is so cool and I'm so glad to be here serving these people. I love and miss you all, I hope all is well.

Week 11 pictures

 The Colombians Love Minions!

Week 11: Lots of rain, lots of minions, and man the Colombians love futbol!

Hola Familia y Amigos!

This week went by really fast and honestly there's not that much to talk about. We had intercambios again this week and I was with Elder Sorbonne. Our day went really good until about 7 PM when it started pouring down rain like crazy.  We ended up walking in the pouring down rain for 2 hours. Our lecciones fell through so we were just walking and singing hymns super loud, it was a ton of fun. I had to air out my shoes and I wasn't able to use them the next day they were so wet. The next day was fine except it was the day of the Colombian soccer game, the people here love their team. We were contacting for like 4 hours and no one would talk to us. Everyone in the country was watching the game except us and the other missionaries.

We had some good lecciones this week, mostly was just sitting with people and reading the Book of Mormon, I love the people here. It was fast Sunday and that was actually really spiritual but also really hard. Our area is really big so I biked a lot while fasting and my body was so tired when I broke my fast. Another cool thing is one of the Maestros from the CCM is the son of members in my area and I got to see him again and that was really awesome.

Then today was P day. It's Elder Sorbonne's birthday this upcoming Monday so Elder Araujo and I bought him presents. I had a really good milkshake, and then we ate Pizza with Elder Mohr and Elder Sorbonne and just talked and laughed. Our district is the best. That's all from this week, next week we have a baptism planned for an awesome investigador Rosana, she's really progressing. I love and Miss you guys, I hope you're all doing well!

Week 10: Pictures and Video

Week 10: General Conference and lots of sickness!

Hola Familia y Amigos!!!

This week was all over the place! Tuesday was a normal day, we had appointments in this place that's 30 minutes away by bike and all of them fell through, so my comp and I ended up just biking around most of the day. Then that night Colombian life finally hit me. It was probably the worst night of my life, I literally didn't leave the bathroom for 3 hours. My companion  was awesome, he helped me the entire time and stayed up with me. Then Wednesday I was still really sick in the morning but we had a multi zone conference in Bogota so I had to get up around 5 am for the 4 hour bus ride while I was still super sick. I brought a bag on the bus, but thankfully I didn't have to use it! The conference was really cool, I talked to my President and a bunch of other cool missionaries from the other zone, but I was falling asleep all day because I was on  anti-vomiting pills that make you really drowsy.
Then we took the bus back to Villavicencio and we didn't get to our house till around midnight. Then Thursday we had a few lecciones but most of them fell through. Then Friday came and it was my companions birthday! All of our lecciones fell through that day too, except a leccion with a member family and a leccion with a lady who's been a member for 4 years. She was baptized but her son wasn't and now he wants to be baptized which is really awesome! We're going to have more lecciones with them in these upcoming weeks! Then I bought my companion  a cake and we ate a bunch of bad food right after we'd both been sick, but it was his Birthday so we had too!

Saturday and Sunday was Conference! And it was in Ingles!!! Our zones Gringos set up a "Gringo Room" where we all took notes, watched conference, and ate lots of snacks haha. We watched every session and I can honestly say I love Conference!  It was cool at home but it means so much more on a Mission, I'll never take Conference for granted anymore. My favorite talks were President Nelson's and Tad R Callistar's about the Book of Mormon. If any of you have doubts about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon I invite you to watch those talks and then read it!! I know that it is true!  It was sad not seeing President Monson and also hearing Elder Hales passed  away.  Today we went and had lunch with our Zone leaders, I got a hot dog and it was actually really good!   Next  my companion and I went shopping for food and I finally gave in and bought Lucky Charms (sorry Mom, but I do only buy healthy bread so you can be proud of me for that!) Love and Miss you guys! Hope everything is well!
