Week 30: An amazing, crazy week!

Hola Familia y amigos!

This week was absolutely insane. I got my new companion Elder Gutierrez he’s awesome and  super funny.  Basically all Tuesday I just showed him around the area. On Wednesday  we had a great leccion with an investigator Jose Jiminez  and he accepted a date to be baptized. Then it was just more showing my companion  around the area. Then Thursday was awesome too! Our investigador Consuelo  who was traveling came back and we taught her and set her baptism for this next week! Then Friday was insane we were at lunch and I get a call from one of the Assistants...I'm getting transfered to Leticia!  Leticia is right at the very bottom of Colombia in the Amazon rainforest. There are only 4 missionaries serving there and I have to take a plane to get there!   So Brother Tingey the missionary plane joke won't work for my mission!haha. So I told my companion  and we just worked on teaching him the area. We also had a great leccion that day with these really nice older ladies, Sergio who was getting baptized on Saturday came with us! We set a date for baptism with them too! Then Saturday came, Saturday was amazing!  First Sergio's Baptism, it was awesome, he was so happy to get baptized! Then we went and got Pizza with him after his baptism! Then after that, some of my old investigators who moved were getting baptized too, so I got to go to their baptism! That was awesome. Then Sunday came, we went and got Sergio to bring him to church so he could get confirmed.   We also talked with some of our investigators to make sure that they could come to church.  We get to church and we had 10 investigators there! I also got to confirm Sergio, it was awesome, the first time I ever confirmed anyone. Then I got home packed all my bags and left Villo. I'm going to miss Villavicencio  but I'm excited to go start working in Leticia! Oh also this week I learned how to solve a rubix cube which is pretty cool! I love and miss you guys! hope you're all doing well!

Week 29: A good Colombian week with a Sunday night twist!

Hola familia y amigos!

This week was a lot more normal than last week. Tuesday we had an
awesome leccion with Amparo and her husband Hernando. They´re marrried
which is really cool because Colombians don´t really like doing the
whole marriage thing. After the leccion Amparo told us that she
alreadys feels like a member of the church and that they want to be
baptized! It was awesome, they really are prepared for this gospel in
their lives. Wednesday  was an intercambio with Elder Nielsen in his
area, he’s a really cool guy, but our day was rough though every leccion
fell through and all we did was walk all day. Then Thursday we had a
leccion with Sergio, we really taught him every day this week actually
and we're going to keep going and teach him everyday until his baptism
this Saturday! Friday and Saturday were good we had some good
lecciones and met some good people. Then Sunday was really good, we
had 5 investigators at church and they all really love church, I also
got to see an old investigator who moved but she's been being taught
by other missionaries and is going to get baptized this Saturday too!
Then we went with a member to go do his home teaching visits after we got done
we got home went to bed and then we got a call... Elder Gregersen was
getting transfered!!! That was really unexpected so we had to get all
his stuff packed so he could go to his next area this morning. That
was really sad because I really liked having Elder Gregersen as my companion, I
hope I get to see him again before he finishes his mission. So ya today we
took Elder Gregersen to the bus terminal and after that I've been in a
trio with the zone leaders until my new companion  comes. That's
really all that happened this week, love and miss you all I hope
you're all doing well!

Week 28: Probably the CRAZIEST week of my life

Hola familia y amigos!!

This week was insane, that is the only word I can use. It started of
with me being sick, like really sick, We are pretty sure I had food
poisoning, it wasn't too fun of a time not going to lie, so we spent
all Tuesday and Wednesday in the house because well lets just say this
week we were in a trio: My companion, the bathroom, and me. Then I
started to get a little better, which was good because Thursday we
were going to have to go to Bogota.

We had the opportunity to go to a capacitacion and listen
to Elder Walter Gonzalez, so lets talk about this part. Thursday we
get up at4:45am to go to Bogota, we get to the Villavicencio bus
terminal at 6:30am to meet with the zone and get ready to go to Bogota, but the road is closed, because a bridge collapsed, so we couldn't get to Bogota. We get told to go home, so we go home, I'm still feeling awful. At 2:00 pm we get a call, we need to get to the terminal again by 3 so we can travel to Giradot to hear  Elder Gonzalez speak on Friday.  So my Comp gives me a blessing of health and we leave for the Terminal. We get there and we leave Villaviencio  at 4 pm on a bus to Bogota, the thing was the way was still closed so we had to take the old route to
Bogota.  First bus ride was 11 hours, second bus ride  3 hours, third bus from Melgar to Giradot was only like 30 minutes.  So our trip took 3 buses, 14 1/2 hours to get  into Giradot by 7:30am on Friday.

We have to find the missionaries that live there, we go to their house to
shower, we ate breakfast and then we had to get to the  capacitacion at 10:30am
so we ended up going straight there for that. The capacitacion was
awesome with Elder Walter Gonzalez, he was super spiritual and super
funny. He talked about the importance of helping people make their
own solution to problems instead of just making the solutions for
them.  It was an honor to get to shake his hand and listen to a seventy
speak. That capacitacion got over at 5:00 pm so after that we went to
go eat dinner with all the missionaries there.

Then after dinner we got on a bus from Giradot back to Bogota, we left at 7:00 and got  to Bogota  at 10:00pm.  Then we were told that we were staying the night in Bogota.  We took a taxi to go to some missionaries house in Tunjelito, we got to their apartment at 11:00pm Friday night.  The missionaries we were staying with are our friends so we talked a little and then we went to bed around 1:00 am Saturday morning.  I went from 4:45 am Thursday morning to 1:00 pm Saturday morning without sleeping.  It was roughly 44 hours without sleep. Then we got up at 5:00 am so that we can catch a bus to Villavicencio, so we get to the terminal and we leave Bogota at 6:30 am and get to Villavicencio at 10:30 for another 4 hour bus ride for a total of 22 hours on a bus! We were dead, I had never been so tired in my entire life.

Then stuff calmed down, Sunday we had church, met some future investigators there and we had an awesome leccion with Sergio. He's going to get baptized on the 17th of Febrero, he is so ready for this gospel and he just loves the church and wants to follow God. Then we were coming home and our neighbor was watching the Super Bowl in his store! He talked to us and asked us question about football and it was pretty funny talking about football in Spanish haha! ¡Van Aguilas!
Then today was fun, cleaned the house, cut our hair, ate Subway, bought apple juice, and saw a van on fire in the street with a bunch of people trying to put it out!

Yeah that was my week, for sure a little different than normal
weeks, hope this next week is a little calmer! haha. Miss you all and
hope you're all doing good!
