Week 22: Feliz Navidad!!

Hola familia y amigos!!

This week went by really fast again.  Tuesday was a lot of working and riding bikes all over!  On Wednesday  I had intercambios with Elder Consuegra, we worked really hard and found a new investigator. Thursday we had a really good leccion with one of our investigators Zaida, she's going to get baptized this Friday!!  Then Friday we worked all day, and at night we ordered KFC and Papa John's... we ate a lot. Then Saturday we worked, kinda slow no one in Colombia wants to talk to you around Christmas time but we got to talk to our families back home!! It was awesome getting to talk with my family for the first time with a video call!  Then Christmas Eve we had church, and we went out and talked to all the members and Investigators in our area wishing them a Merry Christmas.  Later that night we ate popcorn and Ice cream for our Christmas Eve dinner! Then Christmas Day  my comp and I watched Joy to the World which was really awesome!   It was amazing getting to watch it knowing that my family was watching it too, just in another place, which is a really cool thing about this gospel it doesn't matter where you are the gospel connects you to your family even when we're not together. Then we made PB & J sandwiches, took some naps and then we went and got giant hamburgers with Elder Luedtke and Elder Campos. I hope you all had a great Christmas and I hope you're all doing well! I love and miss you all!

 Bogota Temple with Elder Luedtke

Week 21: Some service, lots of biking, and lots of people to teach!

Hola familia y amigos!!

This week was really good, and went by really fast. This Tuesday was pretty good, we have a great investigator named Consuelo and she wants to get baptized, she left to go travel for a little bit but she told us we should teach her friend so we went and taught her friend Nidia and that was awesome. Then we finally got to teach the wife of Julian, the guy who runs our internet cafe here and that went really well too! Then Wednesday  was good also because we found 4 new investigators that day and we painted for a member which was really fun. Then Thursday was pretty rough, all of our lecciones fell through but we got to contact alot so that was good, my Spanish is slowly but surely getting better. Then Friday was really fun. We had a leccion with a member's mom and sister who aren't members and that went really well and then we had something called a Cena Navedena. It was a big dance with food with all the branches in the area, it was insane there was like 400 people there and the missionaries were basically the waiters, we took food out on trays and oh man these people were savages haha, grabbing our clothes and taking food of the trays it was loco, then we left with our buddys Elder Luedtke and Elder Campos and ate at KFC. Then Saturday we biked a lot, like a lot. We had a great leccion with a new investigator who had gone to some of the church activities and that was awesome. Coming back on our bikes one of my pedals fell off haha, so I had to push off with one foot and use my bike like a skateboard, that was fun. Then Sunday was awesome, one of my recent converts Rosana gave an awesome talk in sacrament meeting and her son Sergio came! He has all of the assistances he needs so now we just need to work with him and he'll be able to get baptized!! Then today was fun, cleaned the house, cut our hair, went and ate with some other missionaries. Elder Luedtke and I got these awesome milkshakes and played jenga. That was it for this week, it was really fun, I'm glad I get to be out here serving in Colombia even if it's 90 degrees in December!! Love and miss you guys, hope you're all doing well and have a great Christmas, I love reading Luke 2 and the story of the birth of Christ, I'm glad I really get to focus on Christ this Christmas and bring more people to his gospel!!  Next Monday is Christmas so I will be emailing on Tuesday instead of Monday(same goes for next week too because of New Years )!!

Tuesday we left for Bogota to go to the Temple and Christmas activity it took a long time and we did not get there until until 10:00 pm.   Wednesday  we got up at 4:30 am so we could get over to the temple. Before we went to the Temple we ate a McDonalds breakfast, it was awesome!!!  Next we went to the temple and  it was my first time going through in Spanish.  I love the temple the spirit is so strong there and it was really cool to just be there in a session filled with missionaries and our mission president. Then after the temple we went and had our Christmas activity, we had a really good lunch and we watched Moana,  it was really fun!   After the Christmas activity we took the bus back home from Bogota and got in at 1 am in the morning. Then Thursday we worked a lot and didn't have much success, then Friday we found a new investigator which was really cool. Saturday we had another leccion with our investigator who gave us the box of milk from last week, and we got to teach his wife this time too!  I really think they're going to progress, we were getting to leave and this time he gave us 2 more things of milk! haha. Our fridge is just filled with milk!!. Then Sunday was awesome, we had 3 investigators attending church and it was conference here so Presidente Baquerizo was speaking and he got to meet our investigators which was really cool. Then we had a leccion in the church with one of our investigators and it was awesome, she accepted a baptisimal date and is really excited about the gospel. Then later that day we had another leccion with a new investigator and she has already been reading the BOM and she says it's true and wants to be baptized!! Things are going really good in our area right now, there are so many people here who are ready to accept this gospel and I'm glad that we've been finding them lately. Then today my companion  and I found this cool little store that sells movie and TV shirts so I bought two awesome Star Wars shirts!! That's it from this week it went by really fast, I love and miss you all, thanks for all the prayers and I hope you're all having a great christmas season!!

Week 19: Pictures

Week 19: Lots of new investigators, a trip to Hawaii, and a giant box of milk

Hola familia y amigos!!

This week was really, really good. First week with my new companion  Elder Gregerson, he's really cool and a great missionary. Tuesday nothing really happened, but Wednesday we had an awesome day. We taught this family and the dad told us he's going to read the entire book of mormon. Then we had a leccion with the guy who runs our internet cafe and that went really well too! We found 6 new investigators that day. I also ate this awesome thing called a patacona burger(I'll send a pic of it) Then Thursday we had another really good day, found 2 new investigadores, one is this young family, they're married and they want to change their life's to be better parents. I really think they're going to progress. When we were getting ready to leave the husband got up and told us he had something to give us,then he came back with this giant box of milk haha! We have a bunch of milk in the house now. Then friday we found another new investigator the mom of a member who I think we'll be able to baptize. She's amazing and is totally prepared to hear the gospel. We also set baptisimal dates for the kids of Rosana, Sergio and Daniel. We gave them a challenge to live the word of wisdom and the law of chastity for 3 weeks and if their lifes are better be baptized at the end of the 3 weeks! Then Saturday we had an awesome activity of the branch called viaje a Hawaii. They set the chapel up like a plane and they make a plane ride into the plan of salvation. It was a ton of fun and we got 30 referencias from it! Then Sunday we had church and then we found 4 more investigators! We found 13 people this week!! Then today we cleaned the house, got our haircuts, ate burgers, and we got these sick star wars journals! Tomorrow we're going up to bogota to have our big christmas activity so that'll be fun! I hope you're all doing well, Love and miss you guys!!

Week 18: Pictures

                                                       Pizza for Thanksgiving!

My new companion Elder Gregersen. He likes Star Wars too!

Week 18: Done with training, pizza for Thanksgiving, and my new companion

Hola familia y amigos!!

This week was really good!! Tuesday we had a really good NDH con Familia Mosquiera.  We had 3 investigators, 2 menos activos, and 1 miembro all teenagers and it was awesome!  We watched Meet The Mormons, played spoons and ate brownies!  Then Wednesday  we found a new investigator and had a good leccion with her in a members house.  Thursday was Thanksgiving, I was on an intercambio con Elder Consuegra and at 3 PM it started to pour down rain.  We were completely soaked and neither of us had any more clothes so we ordered a pizza and watched the district to finish my 12 weeks training haha.  Then Saturday all of our lecciones fell through but the other missionaries in our district had baptisms, 4 people were baptized! It was awesome the spirit was so strong.  Then Sunday we had a NDH con Familia Echeverry and we watched a video about families and then we played spoons and they fed us a USA  dinner!  Later that night we found a guy who had talked with missionaries 15 years ago and they helped him with something so he thanked us for what we do and bought us juice.  It was really cool, we set a leccion with him for tomorrow.  It makes me think about how everything we do is important, that small act those missionaries did 15 years ago that man never forgot, so we never know when people are watching our actions so we always need to be an good example. Then this morning my comp Elder Araujo got transferred to Bogota. He was an AWESOME trainer and I'm really going to miss him!  I spent all day today waiting for my new comp Elder Gregerson! He's awesome and he's from Hawaii/Idaho, I'm excited to get to work with him!! That's basically it. Hope you guys are all doing well! Love and miss you guys!!

Week 17: Pictures

Week 17: Lots of work, primary program, and some sick Crocks!!!

Hola familia y amigos!!

This week was really fast but not a whole lot to talk about. Tuesday was a lot of contacting and not a whole lot of success. Wednesday was kind of the same, a lot of contacting and not a whole lot of success, but that night we started teaching one of our invetigators girlfriend and she was really receptive, we have more leccions planned with her and I really think she's going to progress. Then Thursday was a really cool spiritual experience. The place where we write our emails is an internet cafe owned by a family and we always were planning on contacting them but we never did because they're always working. Then all Thursday I had this feeling we needed to go talk to them. So we went to talk to them and only the dad was there because the internet was down!! We talked to him and we're going to have our first leccion with him this upcoming week!! That was a really cool experience with listening to the promptings of the spirit. Then friday was intercambios with Elder Sorbonne again, we had a leccion with one of his investigators who's getting baptized this next week. She is so happy about the gospel, it's awesome to see the joy this gospel brings to people in their life. Then Saturday literally every leccion we had fell through, we basically just biked all day, but we got to set up a noche de hogar for a bunch of young men. My goal is to try and get them all prepared to serve missions, that's going to be tomorrow. Then Sunday was awesome, it was the primary program, it doesn't matter what language a primary program is in no one can understand what they're saying native spĂ©aker or not haha. We had some invesatigators at church and that was really awesome, our investigador said he saw spirits in the chapel, really big white beings standing in the doorway. A little weird but he wants to come back to  church so I guess it was a good thing!! Then today we cleaned the house. We went shopping and I bought crocs because my sandals broke already.  I bought Elder Araujo a milkshake because this was probably our last p-day together. We ate lunch with our district and then we were going to play paintball but it was closed so we ended up just playing soccer. That's about it, I love and miss you guys hope everything is going well!!
